Dear Visitor,
October was packed with business and social events in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and with two new additions to the Board the BBGV team has been kept very busy. The BBGV welcomes Stephen Banner of TechcomBank and Peter Simson of Hilton Hanoi Opera to the board. They are both based in Hanoi and will play an integral part in planning business and social events in the north of the country.
BBGV’s Annual Fun Run for Charity update: unfortunately, we are still waiting for permission from the People’s Committee. Due to the limited time frame, it is looking unlikely to happen in December this year. We will keep you updated, as, and when we have more information. We thank you for your patience.
Dates for your Diary: Our family Guy Fawkes night is this Friday 4 November at Snap Café HCMC, with children's games, buffet dinner, prizes and sparklers. Make sure you register for the event, it will be a cracker of a night! We have an exclusive Oil & Gas Business lunch on Wednesday 9 November at the Caravelle Hotel. Speakers from Premier Oil and PV Gas, will share their insights on the major successes, significant challenges and uncertainty of the industry in Vietnam. On Thursday 17 November, the BBGV Hanoi and UK Alumni Vietnam will be teaming up to host the first BBGV Quiz Night in Hanoi. Get your team together for a night of fun, challenging questions and prizes, kindly sponsored by Vietnam Airlines. The BBGV will be holding its AGM on Friday 25 November followed by a lunch. Both HCMC and Hanoi will participate in this event, so please save this date. The Agenda will be sent out soon. Friday 2 December will be the BBGV Christmas Cocktails at the Hilton Hanoi Opera. The BBGV's inaugural Christmas event in Hanoi will involve free flowing drinks, canapés and entertainment: definitely an evening to enjoy. Get your costumes ready for BBGV Glitzy Glamour "London Calling" Christmas Party on Friday 9 December which will tie in with the inaugural Vietnam Airlines flight to London. The party will be held in the Ballroom of the Caravelle Hotel and tickets are just $100 per person and will include cocktail reception, a 4 course Christmas dinner with free flow drinks and entertainment until the early hours of the morning - reserve your table now as tickets will sell fast. Main sponsors for the evening are Harvey Nash and HSBC Premier.
The Vietnam International Shop and Franchise show 2011 will be at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center from the 3rd -5th of November. This is a great chance to see what business opportunities are here in Vietnam, and to meet potential business partners. Check their website for more information and to register.
Recent Events The recent events held in October included the "Hot Property: Industry Update" lunch which was well attended in both HCMC and Hanoi; the BBGV supported Vietnam Airlines official launch and business forum in Hanoi; we heard from the tourism industry's leading professionals in the "Secrets of Success" lunch; learnt tips on the art of presentations from Apollo through the "Sharpen your Presentation Skills" seminars; and found out how to "Navigate the New Normal" from Grant Thornton senior researcher, Alex MacBeath. To see photo galleries of past events, please click here. The BBGV is committed to supporting a wide range of charities within Vietnam. One of the charities which the BBGV supports is KOTO, know one teach one, with 3 sponsored students. Recently KOTO opened their restaurant in HCMC, after 2 years of planning and preparation, we wish the students and the programme all the best. To find out more about the Charities we support, please visit the Charity projects page on our website.
Thank you to the Austrialian International School Saigon for sponsoring this months edition of the BBGV newsletter. If your company would like to sponsor future editions, please contact Chi at membership@bbgv.org.
