Dear BBGV members and friends,
September has been a very busy month in the BBGV office. We have had two very successful social events, and plans are well underway for many more exciting business, social and charity events in the coming months.
Dates for your diary:
Remember remember 5th 4th of November! The annual family Guy Fawkes night will be held at Snap Café HCMC, again this year, with children's games, a barbecue and sparklers. We are still looking for a sponsor for the event, please contact us if your company would like to get behind this popular community night.
The BBGV have collaborated with Vietnam Airlines and UKTI to put together an official launch of the new Vietnam Airlines flights to London, in Hanoi on 11 October. Mr. Hoang Manh Tuan of Vietnam Airlines, Mr. Piers Craven of UKTI and Mr. Patrick Regis of BBGV will all present on how the new service will bring growth in trade and business between the two countries.
Friday 9 December is set for the annual BBGV Christmas Party. Start getting your costumes ready for Glitzy Glamour "London Calling" which will tie in with the inaugural Vietnam Airlines flight to London. The party will be held in the Ballroom of the Caravelle Hotel and tickets are just $100 per person to include cocktail reception, champagne, 5 course Christmas dinner, freeflow of wine, whisky and other drinks as well as glamorous entertainment - reserve your table now as tickets will sell fast. Friday 2 December will be the BBGV Christmas Party in Hanoi, more details will follow, but please save the date. Our 12th Annual Fun Run for Charity, will not take place on Sunday 2 October; unfortunately we were not granted permission to have the run in District 1 this year. We are looking at an alternative route in Binh Chanh based at British Vietnamese International School probably to be held on Sunday 11 December, please pencil this date in your diaries, and more information will be released soon. Recent events: The BBGV Quiz night was held at Snap Café, and 14 teams challenged for the trophy previously held by the Saigon Star International School, sponsors for the evening. Philip Wilson was the quiz master, and it was "The Boilers" who took the title, narrowly edging out the quiz professionals "One for the Road". With great food, and drinks, and excellent prizes, I think everyone had a great night. The regular networking drinks nights seem to be growing each month, and this week's was no exception. Our special guest, Dr Antony Stokes, the British Ambassador to Vietnam, gave a word of welcome and drinks were generously sponsored by Allied Pickfords. Vietnam Airlines kindly gave two return tickets to Gatwick for our lucky draw. Please mark October 25 at Vasco's in your diaries for next month's networking drinks evening.
Business Thursday in Hanoi joined forces with the Hanoi Association of Entrepreneurial Women (HNEW) for a successful networking evening. The next Business Thursday will involve partners in the Banking and Finance sector and will be on October 13 at Movenpick Hotel, Hanoi.
The BBGV are proud to support the development of special eduction in Nha Trang. The funds that BBGV donated last year helped create a physical and sensory room for the Hand in Hand School, and provided assisted placements.
